I have another major and a new minor.
I entered Steele building to visit an academic adviser today, and I declared Philosophy as my second major and Anthropology as my new minor.
I will finish my English major with the completion of my final English class during the Fall 2014 semester. My passion is reading and writing, which is evident through my work for The Daily Tar Heel. I decided Philosophy as my second major simply because it helps me write clear, coherent arguments.

I talked about how Twitter helps my writing skills, and I believe Philosophy will further develop those abilities. Writing new articles is different than writing argumentative essays.
Similarly, writing philosophic papers is different. They are accurate and concise. Arguments must be written in the clearest manner possible, and examples used to support your argument must connect clearly. The entire paper requires meticulous inspection.
English papers require strong arguments and good, supportive examples too, but flowery diction is allowed, which is typically uncommon when writing a Philosophy paper.
I love how powerful words can be in the English language, and I believe I will continue to love the impact words have on daily interaction as I finish my second major and minor.
I already made a bad joke about the combination of majors.
I declared Philosophy as my second major at #unc. In other news, "To be or not to be" will be explicated more than ever. #englishphilosopher

I want to further develop my writing skills, and I believe my second major will help me. The class discussions in Philosophy have helped me become more social within the classroom and outside of it, and I am able to think about abstract concepts more quickly.
I decided to minor in Anthropology because I find cultural anthropology to be utterly fascinating and quite intriguing. I believe students should opt to minor in a field of study that piques their interest, and cultural interaction piques my interest.
I am happy with the addition of the major and minor. I know plenty of students in my classes who are English and Philosophy double majors, so I am proud to say I am officially one as well.
