Two Dead In Weather-Related Accident in NC

According to mtairy news, two people were killed in an accident last night and several others were injured.

A professor sent an email to the students in my class telling us that our class was cancelled. I was excited at first, but then I read the rest of her e-mail.

Usually, when it snows, every student is happy. In the 'South,' snow is not common, so whenever snow falls, students like to play in it.

Many students at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill were enjoying the snow last night.

North Carolina Governor Pat McCrory issued a state of emergency yesterday. I felt the issue was a little strange, but some parts of North Carolina are not as acclimated as others.

The western part of North Carolina is probably accustomed to the snow. The mountains of North Carolina ensure that those areas will have cold weather and a fair amount of snow every year; however, many different areas in North Carolina were probably not as prepared.

My professor said that no one put salt on the roads in Mt. Airy. So, accidents were bound to happen with the snowy and icy roads. The professor did not want to risk driving to Chapel Hill only to teach this class. I do not blame her.

While snow is enjoyable to a lot of students, it can be a serious problem for areas and states that are not as prepared for it. There are more important things in life than having a couple of classes cancelled.
