New belongings, new events, new
friends, new classes, and new jobs. I currently am dealing with all of freshness.
It is so overwhelming, and I think that is why a lot of people have a tough
time moving or
changing. New things or new events in your life are always good,
but having too many things being new in your life can make you feel really
stressed.
I am starting my Junior year at the
University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and even though the area and some
of the people are familiar, a lot of the experience is new. My new home, my new
classes and my new job all contribute to the stress I am feeling in the first
one and a half weeks here. All of the new things are great, on an individual
scale, but combined the freshness is overpowering.
As you and I go throughout life, we
are all going to experience something new. Maybe you will experience a lot of
new things or events at once or maybe the things and events will be spread out,
but however you experience the new items, people and events, remember all of
the things that are stable, concrete and familiar in your life. They may seem
boring at times, and you might want to change or experience something new, but
the familiar things in life keep us calm and mentally fresh and prepared for
the newness.
